Wildest Dreams…

A Bit of nonsense…by Christine Wichman (c) September 2014

In my wildest dreams

nothing’s as it seems…

I find Alice chasing butterflies,

and rabbits, just the same.

She says she talks to angels
Says they all know her name

I tell her I talk to them too,

call them by their names;

Gabriel, Michael, Jophiel, and Metatron,

“I see my Angels and the clouds they’re on.”

Alice calls me a liar

and screams for the Hatter…

He’s done with his tea and building a fire.

He takes her side, admitting she’s a nutter.

Soon Leda is dancing by with her swan,

turn, step step, turn leap turn…

The Swan seems anxious, he’s

getting a sunburn.

I offer my parasol,

a hat and a fan…

he refuses it all

“I’ve done what I can.”

It’s always a shame

to be refused by Zeus…

but he’s not so easy

to please.

So I take a stroll past the neon trees,

to a shady path with a coconut breeze,

where I see Dorothy looking guilty

dangling a key to The Emerald City.

When I ask, if I can join her

she tells me the Wizard is closed today,

“Come back again, the Saturday after Saturday.”

I say, “Ok. I will…”

Then I watch her fly off with a click of her heels,

leaving me alone, with a pig that squeals.

“Dear Pig are you willing to sell for one shilling your Ring?”

Says the Piggy, I will.

The ring is made of brass and turns my finger green,

but as I stated at the start,

Nothing’s as it seems…

In My Wildest Dreams.
